# What is a square wheel setup and how does it work?
## A square setup uses the same wheel and tire size on all four corners - delivering balanced handling, easier tire rotations, and consistent wear for FWD and AWD cars.
A square wheel setup uses the same wheel and tire size on all four corners -- same diameter, width, and offset -- ensuring each corner is interchangeable for simplified maintenance, rotations, and replacement.
The setup is most common in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive cars where balanced traction at all four corners is essential. For JDM platforms like the Honda Civic, Subaru Impreza, and Mazda 3, and hot hatches like the Ford Focus ST/RS, a square setup provides predictable handling characteristics and is more cost-effective for tire rotations and replacements.
