What causes premature tire wear?

Premature tire wear is most commonly caused by improper inflation, misalignment, unbalanced wheels, worn suspension components, and infrequent rotation. Identifying and addressing the root cause early is the most effective way to extend the life of your tires and avoid having to replace them sooner than necessary.

Premature tire wear is one of the most common and preventable issues for enthusiast builds running Anovia wheels.

  • Incorrect alignment: The biggest cause of uneven tire wear. Lowering a car or changing suspension geometry always requires a fresh alignment -- especially for Anovia builds running coilovers or lowering springs
  • Under or over-inflation: Running the wrong pressure causes center wear (over-inflated) or edge wear (under-inflated). Check pressure weekly on performance builds
  • Aggressive driving: Hard acceleration, late braking, and fast cornering accelerate wear -- especially on soft summer and performance compound tires popular on JDM and euro builds
  • Skipping tire rotations: Front tires wear faster on FWD; rear tires wear faster on RWD. Rotate every 5,000-7,000 miles
  • Worn suspension components: Worn bushings, ball joints, or shocks cause inconsistent tracking and uneven contact patch wear
